What is a bath bomb?

Ordinary bath salt is mostly composed of natural land salt, natural sea salt, minerals and plant essential oils, while the explosive bath salt ball is added with baking soda and citric acid, which produces an effervescent effect when exposed to water. Its main materials are citric acid and sodium bicarbonate, plus surfactants and anticaking agents, as well as sodium sulfate and sodium chloride. It will dissolve quickly in water.

The advantage of using the bath bomb is that it cleans and moisturizes while adding a lot of fun. It produces rich bubbles when exposed to water, coupled with brilliant colors, and is very popular with children and young girls abroad. Generally speaking, you do not need to rinse again after using the explosive bath salt ball, but if the essential oil content of the bath salt ball is high, it needs to be rinsed slightly.

How to use bath bomb:

1. Pour one-third of warm water into the bathtub first, then put the bath salt ball into the bathtub, and then continue to fill the bathtub with water, so that the bath salt bomb will completely melt.
2. Then you can take a bath. If the bath salt ball is a non-rinsing formula, there is no need to rinse with water after the bath, which can leave precious essential oils for the skin. If it contains ingredients that must be rinsed off, it needs to be rinsed with clean water again.
3. The dosage of the bath salt ball is selected according to your own purpose. For example, to soak your feet, just take a small amount of the bath salt ball.

How to make a homemade bath bomb?

1. Prepare materials

Baking soda, anhydrous citric acid, corn flour (or potato flour), cold-pressed vegetable oil, essential oil, flower powder (can be added or not), mold, electronic scale, stainless steel basin, gloves.

Baking soda: anhydrous citric acid: corn flour=2:1:1

1. Production method

(1) Put on gloves, mix anhydrous citric acid and corn flour and knead evenly.

(2) Add baking soda and stir evenly. You can knead and stir like the initial stage of kneading.

(3) Add a little flower powder (such as rose powder, comfrey powder, wormwood powder, Indigo Naturalis powder, etc.) randomly for color mixing. Some color materials may stain the bathtub, so please consider whether to add it carefully.

(4) After mixing evenly, add cold-pressed vegetable oil such as sweet almond oil, which is 1% of the total powder, and mix it into the compound oil you need (essential oil concentration is only 1%)

(5) After all the materials are mixed uniformly, when the hand kneads into a block shape, it will not spread out immediately and then it can be put into the mold. The mold can be a cheap and easy-to-use PVC mold or jelly cup, a small piece is suitable for a bath. The trick to entering the mold is to press it as hard as possible! It is best to add layer by layer.

If you use a three-dimensional round or heart-shaped bath ball mold, it is more difficult to enter the mold. You can press half into a concave and half into a convex, and then tightly buckle the convex half from top to bottom, the success rate will increase. In order to avoid swelling and bursting, you can wrap the tightly fastened mold with plastic wrap.

(6) Wait patiently for 30 minutes, you can demould. If you are not in a hurry, or if you are afraid that the bath ball will turn into bath powder after demolding, it will be better to leave it for 1 day before demoulding.

(7) After the bath salt ball is molded and demolded, place it in a ventilated place for one day, and then wrap it in plastic wrap or put it in a sealed tank to prevent the moisture from dissipating.

1. Matters needing attention

Epsom salt is added to some formulas. Epsom salt will produce a rotating effect to make the bath salt ball more interesting when it is dropped into the water, but it cannot be used with foaming powder. Epsom salt will defoam, and the more you add, the faster it will disappear, so if you want the foam to last, don’t add Epsom salt or sea salt in the formula.
